[rt-users] New Installation, faulty Search Funcion

I have installed RT & it's necesary components under FreeBSD.  I have 90% of all the functionality working, however I am seeing a problem that has been briefly discussed in your archives.  Unfortunately none of the information thus far has helped solve the issue.  Here's what's up.

Local configuration:
Running FreeBSD 5.2.1 
Perl 5.8.2 (compiled from ports before RT or modules installed) 
Rt version 3.0.10
Mod_perl 1.29 
Perl CPAN says your freezethaw and mason are up to date.
I am not using any international languages.

Visible Problem:
When I log in to RT & go to search tickets I get a 'System Error'.  This error does not happen if I click the 'search' button in the upper right, but if I click the one in th elower right (with or without any search requirements set) I recive the error.
It's the same error I get when I try and create a new class in RTFM.

Any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
