Not sure, have not tried this but...

Could you rename the folder/make a link to "FAQ" then create an apache rewrite rule for my.site.com/rt/rtfm/ to be my.site.com/rt/faq/  ?  that should take care of all the links I would think.

The reset then would just be cosmetic, which is easy enough to do in your /rt/local/ directory.
