This was a simple typo introduced in DBIx-SearchBuilder 1.52 and
fixed the next day in 1.53.  It should have been
substr($self->DatabaseVersion, 0, 1)

It is probably worth upgrading to 1.53 if you're using 1.52, but
Ruz could say more.
