Not an extension, but there's been discussion e.g;
[rt-users] RT-Mailgate hack to remove quoted replies
by Tom Lahti on April 3rd of last year.

Also, the wiki is the authoritative place to look for tweaks, not CPAN.
Not everything is an extension, and not all extension authors post to CPAN.
