Anyway I figured it out eventually (with some help from the exim
IRC channel):<br>

You need to revert the configuration back to split.<br>
<br>
Then you need to create these two files:<br>

local_part_prefix = rt-
local_part_suffix_optional
local_part_suffix = -comment
transport = rt_transport

and then restart exim.<br>
