Ended up in a rather ugly loop here, when run non-interactively.  :(
The logic above still breaks unless a general queue exists.  Anyway, I
guess Deborah will eventually deal with this.  I'd like a
GNU-conformant cli where all parameters might be entered at the
command line, where no user-interactive things are done unless it's
actually run in a terminal. :)
