aiee... so close, 90% working.
There have been a couple other posts in regards to this error. Most notably
Ruslan Zakirov submitted a patch yesterday:

I'm experiencing the following errors in the logs when I reply/comment on a
ticket. No mail is ever sent. I can, however, get mail out via RT when
creating a ticket.

Ruslan's patch stops the errors from appearing in the Apache logs but RT
still refuses to send out the mail.
This is in regards to RT 3.0.4 on Red Hat 8.0.
