You'll still get benefit of putting a mod_proxy in front of your RT 
instance (assuming it is running mod_perl).  Why this is true can be 
found in the mod_perl tuning docs that come with mod_perl.  I don't 
think I need to repeat my words here again :-)

But if you're all on the local LAN, that reason may not hold true....
