Or, if you don't mind the security risk, you can append

   &user=username&pass=password

to the end of the RSS URL. I created a "read-only" account on our RT for 
this purpose, and it worked great. The only disadvantage: when you open 
the URL in the RSS item, you are logged in with the read-only identity.
