[rt-users] gentoo+fastcgi+rt-3.4.5 problem

Greetings - I'm trying to get RT set up on a Gentoo server.  I've
followed the instructions on the BestPractical wiki [1] to the letter,
but I'm still getting this error in my logs whenever I try and pull up
RT in a web browser:

[Fri Mar 03 15:40:04 2006] [warn] FastCGI: server
"/var/www/helpdesk/rt-3.4.5/bin/mason_handler.fcgi" has failed to
remain running for 30 seconds given 3 attempts, its restart interval
has been backed off to 600 seconds

I'm running apache-2.0.55, mysql-4.1.14, mod_fastcgi-2.4.2, and rt-3.4.5.

When I browse to the URL for RT, the browser sits for ~60 seconds
trying to load the page and eventually gives up when the server throws
a 500 "Internal Server Error".

Any ideas?
