The only package for mod_perl in suse linux 9.3 is called
'apache2-mod_perl', which I have installed.  It includes the file

/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.6/i586-linux-thread-multi/mod_perl.pm

and its version number seems to be '1.99'.
