[Shipwright] 'build ncurses install part failed' with rt 3.8.8 vessel

Just tried to build the rt 3.8.8 vessel here: 
http://sunnavy.net/rt/3.8.8.tar.gz

I have shipwright 2.4.14 installed, and used that to import 
cpan:DBD::mysql.

However, it's having problems when it gets to ncurses:

$ ./bin/shipwright-builder --flags mysql --install-base $HOME/build/rt/destdir
sh: /afs/bx.psu.edu/user/phalenor/build/rt/destdir/bin/perl: No such file or directory

Building fontconfig
Building ncurses
build ncurses install part failed.

Any idea where to go from here?
