[rt-devel] Qurying a different db/Sharing Callback variables

Does anyone know how to make a variable initialized in a callback handled by
the autohandler available to its children?
 
One more quick question:
 
If I wanted to query a different DB from within RT, can I just instantiate
$dbh as if DBD::mysql was already being used?
