I had seen this before and had reported it:

The problem that I face is that to fix this, I need to know a lot more
about how the things work under the hood. It appears that:
- if you do not touch those (ordering) preferences everything works fine.
- if you touch it once and go back to not ordering things break
- The solution I thought would work breaks down in the following scenario:
When out of 4 columns (lets say cols A, B, C, D) available for
sorting, if you choose A and C (not choosing B), it breaks down.
