Dave,
Set your RT_SiteConfig.pm settings to:
*Set($MessageBoxWrap, "HARD");*
*Set($MessageBoxRichText, 0);
*
*Set($PlainTextPre, 1);*
*Set($PlainTextMono, 1);*
This works for us.
