[rt-users] Sphinx and MySQL

Hi Everyone

I wanted to enable searching of the contents of tickets in our running environment.
>From the documentation it looks like you have to recompile MySQL from source which just seems like a lot of work since the MySQL is used for other things and is running correctly (Installed from RPM)
I installed the RPM package of sphinx and was hoping there was a way to enable it as a plugin (which some people have mentioned as in this link http://inservio.ba/blog/en/27/04/2010/sphinx-and-sphinxse )

Is there a way to do this with Sphinx having been installed from RPM? I tried the suggestions in the link but the 5.5.28 version of MySQL has an install binary and no way to just run the build and configure that I can see

Any suggestions would be appreciated
