[rt-users] Retrieving information from RT-database

Dear Users,
I'm writing a pieces of code in Perl to retrieve information directly
from the RT internal database.
I would like to know if there are some API provided by RT to interact 
with the database,
for example retrieve the list of users and so on.
I need this informations out of the web interface.
