Click "Search" -- and wait 5-6 seconds to see an empty page.

I saw this when I had the webserver and database server on two different
machines; I continue to see it with the both on the same machine (a 550
MHz Pentium III with 256M RAM)

When this happens, there's a large load on the server, split about 60/40
between apache and postgres. In reading the archives, I've checked my
version of SearchBuilder (was 0.47, now 0.48), number of apache daemons
(was 8-12, now 3-8), and free RAM (was 38M, now 56M). The problem still
exists.

I'm continuing to read every thread I can find with a search for "slow"
at lists.fsck.com; I'm going to be enabling RT's debugging as soon as I
have time to read up and know what it'll tell me. 

In the meantime, any guidance would be very much appreciated.
