I did a bit of research and found that, if you're using a modern version
of MySQL (v4.1.x or later, at least), the password encryption scheme
changed. I've updated the FAQ with the encrypted string that was set in
a fresh install of RT 3.4.4 using MySQL 4.1.11. Please give that a try
and see if you're able to log in as root. =]
